Davao worldport harbor limits embraces all the worldportion of Davao Gulf bounded by an imaginary line drawn from Dumanlag Pt. running east to the western shoreline of Samal Island; thence by shoreline of Samal Island to Bassa Pt., thence by imaginary line running straight to the mouth of Lasang River, and thence by shoreline of the mainland (Mindanao Island)to Dumanlag Point, the place of commencement.
Navigational Approach There are no access channels in the worldport of Davao except through Davao Gulf. The first approach through this gulf is at Pakiputan Straight, between Davao City and the water west of Samal Island. The second approach is between the east side of Samal Island and the coastline west of Davao Oriental heading toward the tip of Davao Gulf.

Topography Davao hinterland is exceedingly mountainous with ranges running in all directions. The western range includes Mt. Apo. Largr coastal areas of recent alluvium extend inland as gently- rising valleys and hills. The area is well drained by a number of rivers and creeks. The bigger ones are Libuganon, Tagum, Lasang, Davao and Talomo rivers. The littoral shape is similar for the whole western Davao Gulf coast. Following a rather shallow stripe of varying width between 180 m. and 1,000 m. and water depths up to approximately 10 m. below MLLW, steep declone of sea bottom is down to 35 m. to more than 160 m. deep. In general, Davao region is rather mountainous and larger parts are underlain by igneous and metamorphic rocks, whereas the up- lands are underlain by sedimentary rocks like limestone, shale, sandstone, conglomerate and sand and gravel deposit.

Rainfall Rainfall in the region is rair;y well-distributed throughout the whole year. The are no definite dry and wet seasons. However, less rainfall is registered in Febraury and March whereas more rainfall prevails in May to July. Average value as as follows from 20 years observation:

worldport FACILITIES
Description Reinforced concrete general purpose wharf catering to domestic and foreign going vessels with conventional and containerized cargoes.
Berth/Draft Old quay is 515 m long x 18 m. wide, with four berths and a controlling depth of 10.6 m alongside. Its fendering system is made of rubber V-fenders alongside the berth. There are nine (9) mooring bollards and 11 mooring bitts.
New quay is 405 m ling x 35 m wide, with four (4) berths and a controlling depth of 10.6 m alongside. The fendering system is made of rubber attached to the girder of the structure and the mooring fixtures are made of cast iron distributed evenly along the apron. It is being used for handling containers and bulk cargoes.
Anchorage Vessels awaiting berth availability anchor 450 meters off Sta pier in 12 fathoms mud. The anchorage is well protected except during strong southwest monsoon.

Pilotage Pilotage is compulsary for foreign-going vessels with 100 GRT and over; and for domstic vessels with 75 GRT and over. Request for pilot should be made 24 hours in advance to the Davao Pilots' Association.
Water Supply Provided thru trucks by Tombo & Sons, Linao Water Supply and Mindanao Trucking. Also provided thru pumping of Davao City Water District with facilities right at the berths.
